About Rachel Harris

( Connect With Them: Website / Twitter / Facebook )

New York Times best-selling author Rachel Harris writes humorous love stories about sassy girls next door and the hot guys that make them swoon. Emotion, vibrant settings, and strong relationships are a staple in each of her books…and kissing. Lots of kissing.

An admitted Diet Mountain Dew addict and homeschool mom, she gets through each day by laughing at herself, hugging her kids, and watching way too much Food Network with her husband. She writes young adult, new adult, and adult romance, and LOVES talking with readers.

On your nightstand now: Anna Todd’s After series and Chanel Cleeton’s upcoming Flirting With Scandal

Favorite book when you were a child:  Little Women ruled my world until I was introduced to Lizzie and Darcy freshman year of high school.

Your top five authors: Gah! So incredibly hard. I guarantee you my answer changes a bit depending on what I read, or what genre. But overall….let’s give it a shot:

Kristan Higgins, Mia Sheridan, SC Stephens, Amy Harmon, Sarah McLean

I feel so sad leaving so many favorites off that list lol

Book you’ve faked reading: Ethan Frome

Book you’re an evangelist for: Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred

Book that changed your life: Twilight. I’m a homeschool mom and up until I read that book, my life had become completely about my children, planning curriculum and reading ‘classic literature’ that I had pretended to read before but felt now I really had to, in order to be a good homeschool mother. The week my husband bought me the Twilight series changed my life. I remembered how FUN reading could be. It inspired me to go to the library and my local bookstore and read everything I could on their shelves. And…three months later….inspired me to begin writing my own book, carving out time that was just for me. I adore my children with everything in me, second only to their father, but having something that is uniquely mine, that feeds my own creativity, is such a blessing.

Favorite line from a book:  “My children, my precious children, what I want them to become I must first become myself.” ~ Stepping Heavenward

Which character you most relate to:  In all of literature? EEP! I have sat here for several minutes, staring blankly at my screen, and can’t come up with just one. But I will say that all of Kristan Higgins’ funny, sometimes awkward and klutzy, heroines remind me a lot of myself 😉

Book you most want to read again for the first time: Sweet Gum Tree….or Where She Went by Gayle Forman

Tell me about YOUR book:  I had two books release late last year, one adult romance, ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED ON PURPOSE, and a YA, THE FINE ART OF PRETENDING. Strangely enough, both books probably have the most ‘me’ in them, even though they were written years apart. But Sherry, the main character in ACCIDENTALLY, is hands down my favorite character I’ve ever written.

ACCIDENTALLY is about a sassy southern girl who loves her romance novels, loves adventure and the idea of love, but hasn’t been so lucky in the romance department herself. So she crafts the idea to fall for a Mr. Boring–someone totally against her usual type, in hopes that it’ll change her fate. But first, one last fling while on her trip to Vegas for New Years. She ends up meeting country music super star Tyler Blue, yet she thinks he’s a roadie, and a wild weekend leads to them waking up hitched. When Tyler’s management learns about this, they are thrilled, as his credibility writing love songs has been questioned by a well respected Country music magazine due to his forever bachelor status, and the rest of the book involves them faking a happy marriage–or are they really faking? Add in Mardi Gras, New Orleans food (my favorite), dancing in the rain, and fabulous music, and you’ve got Sherry and Tyler’s fun, crazy-filled adventure.

One ring plus one wild night equals one crazy love

Sherry Robicheaux loves men. She loves love. And she loves an adventure. So when she meets a mysterious man while working backstage at a country music concert in Vegas, she’s all about what’s happened in Vegas staying there.

Country music superstar Tyler Blue just wants a weekend of anonymity…though there’s something about the spunky waitress with the streaks of purple hair that tempts him like no other. Until the next morning, when they both wake up with fuzzy memories…and rings on their fingers.

Convincing Sherry to maintain the ruse for his public image isn’t the hardest part–it’s reminding himself that their time spent playing husband and wife in her small town of Magnolia Springs can’t last. Tyler’s first love will always be music–and the road is no place for a sweet downhome girl.

About Misty

Your friendly neighborhood narcissist. I'm sarcastic, cynical and a bit cranky. I own a soap box so big that sometimes I have difficulty stepping down off of it, and I'm about 94% certain I have multiple personalities. I don't sleep enough, and I read more than any person should ever consider normal. I have anger management issues, especially when I'm stuck in traffic and I have an unhealthy obsession with my Kindle. I am a vampire lovin', zombie obsessed, book-in-hand, iPod freak. You either love me or hate me. You be the judge.
