Blind Date With An Ebook Revisited! (Giveaway)

bdate

Hola Kindle-ites! Back in February (for Valentines Day) I wanted to do something  fun (and different) for all of you. And after a little bit of finagling and a whole lot of help from one of my dedicated Kindle-ites (Yes, I mean you Farin) I decided to host a “Blind Date With A Book” event. To be honest…I wasn’t sure how well it would go over, BUT, like always, y’all never cease to amaze me and the event was a huge success. So, I’ve decided to do it again. (Cause it was tons of fun.) But first (for those of you that have no idea how this giveaway works…) here’s the 411.

I’m sure most of you have seen displays like these right? (*Looks around the room*)

Well, in case you haven’t. Let me explain. For quite some time now libraries and bookstores have offered up and alternative way for patrons to purchase or check out books during the month of love. It’s their way of helping people out with book rut. (You know, that funk you get in when you read the same thing over and over because HEY..that’s what you gravitate towards.) They pick a book for you. Disguise it. Write a little quip about it on the cover and then send it out into the wild. Then it’s up to you. (This is where the blind date part comes in.) YOU read the quip and pick something that strikes your fancy. Once you get home the fun begins. You get to see what you got and even better… YOU GET TO READ IT! Anyways, after reading an article Farin sent me (in February) I decided to do a little Blind Dating myself. So…I picked out 6 books. I wrote quips for them (Ugh… I just noticed a typo I can’t fix in the books. Please ignore it.) and am now releasing them into the wild. HOWEVER…unlike libraries (who loan you the book under the assumption you will return it) I am going to give away Kindle copies of NEW books. All you have to do is tell me which book you wanna take home. (Bow chicka wow wow.) On June 23rd I will pick a winner & TADA! A new book will be sent to you via Amazon.  Sound fun? Awesome!

To give you a quick idea of the calibre of books I give away, here is a list of the mystery books from February. The Shoemaker’s Wife, The Mongoliad, Only The Innocent, Enders Game, The Fault In Our Stars, The Remaining.

So how about we check out the books up for grabs THIS time?

  1. I haven’t done it yet myself, though I absolutely love the idea and recommended it to my local library a couple of months ago. 😀

  2. They really seemed to like the idea, so I think they might give a try once they’re done with all their things – they’re switching everything around at the moment. I’m hopeful! 🙂

  3. Ohhhh! This is fun! I would love to get one of these free! They all look pretty good!

  4. Never participated in something like this before but it’s a great idea to open you up to authors or genres you might not normally read.

  5. I have not participated in a local Blind Date with a book just participated in your last giveaway.

  6. This is a great idea to get people to try different books, #3 sounds like something I would read.
