A Blog Without A Blogger…

Unless you have been living under a rock (not that I would blame you) you have noticed I have been absent. With the exception of a Tuesday Newbies post here or there I’m like smoke in the wind. In and out before you even realize it. Most of you, after 7 years of being loyal Kindle-ites (thanks for that) understand that it happens AND live safely under the assumption that I will (eventually) return. However, I have gained roughly 500 new followers in the last month (despite my absence) and after a pretty *cough* forward *cough* email yesterday I realized that isn’t necessarily the case for everyone. So I’ve decided to fill you in on what it is I do from day to day. You know…just to give you an idea of my schedule and why (every once in a while) KindleObsessed gets left hanging so that I don’t actually hang myself.

For starters…I am a mom. (I should be able to stop here seeing as how this is time consuming enough, but…I’ll keep going.)

I have 2 children, ages 6 and 10, and BOTH (I guess I should include my loving husband in this) will ALWAYS take priority over books, blog posts, and the number of authors I have blowing up my email daily. The day I start putting my blog first is the day I will quit blogging. (Hard truth.)

Anywho, because I have these 2 small children I am an (over)active board member on both of their school’s PTAs. Not only do I pop 500 bags of popcorn every 3rd Friday, but I also monitor recess for 3 hours every Friday/Design all of the decorations for 2 fall carnivals/do the accounting for 4 fundraisers/cut out a ridiculous amount of paper stars as a room mom AND…run the entire art department for my daughter’s school which does NOT have a paid instructor. (etc…etc…etc…)

I am over-scheduled and severely “underpaid” (which I don’t mind.)

But wait…that’s not all!!! (cue informercial voice.)

I do the accounting for my husband’s company. I help run cable through schools, set up technology classrooms and assist with website design.

I photograph golf tournaments.

I chaperone all of the youth events, rallies, work camps, mission trips, lock-in’s and festivals for my church.

I….

I’ll stop there.

The point is, I am crazy busy. And reading and writing (though I adore, and will never give them up) are not my “life.” The activities that draw me closer to my family, friends, and church are. They are what keep me alive enough to blog for YOU, and if you take that away…I’m just a shell.

So, to the person that doesn’t know me, that felt the need to call me out on my bad “blogger etiquette.” I hope this help put things into perspective for YOU. And if it doesn’t…I’m won’t apologize, because I’m not sorry.

And for those of you: readers/publishers/authors that take my erratic posts in stride. Thanks! It’s nice to know that I can come and go and y’all are still here.

Mucho love. — Misty

About Misty

Your friendly neighborhood narcissist. I'm sarcastic, cynical and a bit cranky. I own a soap box so big that sometimes I have difficulty stepping down off of it, and I'm about 94% certain I have multiple personalities. I don't sleep enough, and I read more than any person should ever consider normal. I have anger management issues, especially when I'm stuck in traffic and I have an unhealthy obsession with my Kindle. I am a vampire lovin', zombie obsessed, book-in-hand, iPod freak. You either love me or hate me. You be the judge.

  1. Whew! Now I feel tired from just listening to all that you do all day! Keep it up superwoman, cause we love ya!

  2. Wow, you sure keep busy, lol 😉

Just the other day I was thinking about this blog and updates. TBH, I just thought that RL was keeping you from hang around here. Obviously that ALWAYS takes first place, so no worries about it.

Sucks that people ask about it in a not so nice way, lol. Just a simple ‘what’s up?’ would’ve suffice.

Much love and we’ll be here waiting for more. 🙂

  3. Wow! Now I feel bad about missing the Tuesday Newbies every now & then! Thanks for all that you do to keep us up to date on new books. Your family absolutely comes first. Enjoy them while their young even though it’s a busy time. It seems like yesterday mine were that age. Now they’re both in college!
