Evening Kindle-Parents!

So 2 weeks ago I wrote a post about the benefits of reading for 20 minutes each night. The next day (after everyone got their newsletter) I was slammed with emails asking for “reading recommendations” to go along with this 20 minutes. First off…I was totally excited that y’all actually took the time to read that post. Knowledge is powerful for both YOU and your CHILDREN so *pats on the back* all around. Second…I realized after 3 hours of compiling lists (and answering emails) that I was probably going about this wrong. Why not kill roughly 70 birds with 1 stone…er…blog post.

So, after my light-bulb moment I went to work on a list. I’ll be honest, it was a bit of a beating..so I took a break to surf the web (aka Pinterest) and I came across a post about the “100 Best Children’s Books.” So, I clicked the link (duh) and discovered a FANTASTIC site for parents looking for quality children’s reading ideas. Awesome right?! Now, I’m not going to rip off their hard work. (Because that is just wrong) so I’m only going to post a few images of the types of books on the list, and then encourage you to visit their site to see more. But first…I wanted to show you a few other features they have ready to go on the site.

Is your child past the “Seuss” age? Ok…take a look at the “Popular Book Lists” tab. They have created a list of the 100 best CHAPTER BOOKS of all time! Your tiny tot having a problem with their colors? Ok…look at the “By Subject” tab. Tada!!! Colors! Did your child lose someone close to them and you don’t know how to address it? Take a look at the “Social Issues & Behavior” tab. Death and Dying, right there to  help you and your little one out.

Think of it as having a librarian in your pocket! Got questions? This website has answers.

Here is a look at just 3 of the books on their 100 best list. Three books which happen to be HUGE favorites in my household. (I pretty much have Green Eggs and Ham memorized.) But, enough gibbering from me. To view their entire list or just peruse the website just click on the banner above or the “100” image below. Happy Reading!! And don’t forget…Reading is contagious. Pass it on!

About Misty

Your friendly neighborhood narcissist. I'm sarcastic, cynical and a bit cranky. I own a soap box so big that sometimes I have difficulty stepping down off of it, and I'm about 94% certain I have multiple personalities. I don't sleep enough, and I read more than any person should ever consider normal. I have anger management issues, especially when I'm stuck in traffic and I have an unhealthy obsession with my Kindle. I am a vampire lovin', zombie obsessed, book-in-hand, iPod freak. You either love me or hate me. You be the judge.
