Welcome to Gardnerville.

A place where no one gets sick. And no one ever dies.

Except…

There’s a price to pay for paradise. Every fourth year, the strange power that fuels the town exacts its payment by infecting teens with deadly urges. In a normal year in Gardnerville, teens might stop talking to their best friends. In a fourth year, they’d kill them.

Four years ago, Skylar’s sister, Piper, was locked away after leading sixteen of her classmates to a watery grave. Since then, Skylar has lived in a numb haze, struggling to forget her past and dull the pain of losing her sister. But the secrets and memories Piper left behind keep taunting Skylar—whispering that the only way to get her sister back is to stop Gardnerville’s murderous cycle once and for all.

A place where no one gets sick, and no one ever dies? Count me in! Oh, wait…some side effects may occur. Hmm…I guess it’s always important to read the fine print huh.

This one caught my attention for a few different reasons. 1) Doesn’t really sound like something I’ve read before, and trust me…I needs something new. I’m getting bored. 2) Piper killed 16 of her classmates? SIXTEEN!!! That’s like an entire baseball team. And how exactly did she do it? All I get is “to a watery grave?” I need to know more than that. Was it one by one? A mass off’ing? (Holy shit…I sound demented. I’m going to stop focusing on this aspect of the story.) Instead…how about I focus on the fact that mini-Dexter is back on the streets. This book sounds sooooo incredibly F’d up. I LOVE IT! (*stops to ponder if medication is necessary*) Anyways, THIS is what I am waiting for.

What are YOU waiting for?

About Misty

Your friendly neighborhood narcissist. I'm sarcastic, cynical and a bit cranky. I own a soap box so big that sometimes I have difficulty stepping down off of it, and I'm about 94% certain I have multiple personalities. I don't sleep enough, and I read more than any person should ever consider normal. I have anger management issues, especially when I'm stuck in traffic and I have an unhealthy obsession with my Kindle. I am a vampire lovin', zombie obsessed, book-in-hand, iPod freak. You either love me or hate me. You be the judge.
