She’s searching for answers to her past. They’re hunting her to save their future.

World War III has left the world ravaged by nuclear radiation. A lucky few escaped to the Alaskan wilderness. They’ve survived for the last thirty years by living off the land, being one with nature, and hiding from whoever else might still be out there.

At least, this is what Juneau has been told her entire life.

When Juneau returns from a hunting trip to discover that everyone in her clan has vanished, she sets off to find them. Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact. Everything was a lie.

Now Juneau is adrift in a modern-day world she never knew existed. But while she’s trying to find a way to rescue her friends and family, someone else is looking for her. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the secrets of her past.

A couple things. 1… Amy Plum is brilliant, if you haven’t had the pleasure of reading her Revenants series you should do so. (You’ll understand immediately what I’m talking about.) 2… I am probably one of the only people on the planet that loved  M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Village” (I’m not kidding…I catch flack for even having it on my shelf. To which I say “Screw you, it’s freaking awesome.”) Which pretty much means that the synopsis for this book could have said “Some random, unimportant girl spends a quiet day at the park.” And I would still have it on my wishlist. The fact that it is about so much more is actually a bonus. So, let’s talk about what it’s about. World War III, or the lack there of. A girl who realizes her entire life is based on a pretty significant lie, and her suddenly missing family. (I’m going with Alien abduction. Or they just finally got tired of living life without chocolate. It’s a toss up.) The confusion of her situation is sure to make for some pretty interesting scenario, also…who is curious to see how she reacts when she sees her first iPhone? (*raises hand*) Anyways, enough about me and my inability to keep on topic. This is what I am waiting for.

What are YOU waiting for?

About Misty

Your friendly neighborhood narcissist. I'm sarcastic, cynical and a bit cranky. I own a soap box so big that sometimes I have difficulty stepping down off of it, and I'm about 94% certain I have multiple personalities. I don't sleep enough, and I read more than any person should ever consider normal. I have anger management issues, especially when I'm stuck in traffic and I have an unhealthy obsession with my Kindle. I am a vampire lovin', zombie obsessed, book-in-hand, iPod freak. You either love me or hate me. You be the judge.
