Get To Know…

So today I’ve decided to take a moment to introduce a very lovely (and talented) author friend of mine named Tracy. I promised her way back in February to do a piece on her newest book “Drive Me Crazy” and totally dropped the ball (because I suck.) So I’m trying desperately to make it up to her in the only way I know how. Giving her shit away. (Maybe I should have said that with more finesse…hmm…) Anywho, Tracy (who is known by way too many names to count. Tessa Adams, Tracy Deebs, Tracy Wolff…Ivy…etc) is probably one of the coolest people I know. Other than the fact that she has some wicked bright red hair (that picture does it no justice AT ALL) she takes immense pleasure in doing things like: waiting until she only has 1 day left in her deadline to write an entire book. (She calls this her “total abject fear motivation technique.”) Convincing me to read books by corning me and reading from said book out-loud until I agreed it was “made of awesome-sauce and rainbows.” And is totally down with giving any and all characters life threatening illnesses just to see how they would react. But don’t take my word for it (though you really should, this is MY blog after-all.) Here are 5 things her BFF Emily McKay (yes, THAT Emily) has to say about her.

5 Things About Tracy… Via Emily

1. Everyone knows Tracy. Seriously. Walk into a room of writers at any convention and somebody knows her! If you happen not to be at a writer’s convention, but … oh, say, an airport full of strangers, just give it five minutes. She will start talking to strangers and befriend them. This makes it impossible to walk quickly across any room–anywhere–with her in tow.

2. She loves lipstick! You can always tell when she’s in a good mood because the conversation will start with, “I bought a new lip stick today!” Not only that, but she’s one of those enviable women who manages to look great in only lipstick (damn her!) On the bright side, she is great at picking out lipsticks for other people and always willing to share her knowledge.

3. She loves coffee, but usually drinks tea because it’s easier on her tummy

4. She can sounds smart talking about almost anything. Obviously, this is at least partly because she is extremely smart, but also because words just come easily to her. This is why she can write so quickly. once she has the story down, the words come out perfect. Seriously. I’ve been there when she’s writing. It’s amazing.

5. If she lived in Divergent, she would absolutely be in Amity — even though she hates being outside. She would have to put up with it, because she is naturally a very peppy, happy person. Plus, she loves bright colors, so she’s be there for the fashion alone!

Bio: Tracy Deebs collects books, English degrees and lipsticks and has been known to forget where—and sometimes who—she is when immersed in a great novel. At six she wrote her first short story—something with a rainbow and a prince—and at seven she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. From the first page of that first book, she knew she’d found her life-long love. Now a writing instructor at her local community college, Tracy writes YA novels that run the gamut from dark mermaids and witches to kissing clubs and techno-Armageddon stories… and she still has a soft spot for Judy Blume. Your friendly neighborhood narcissist. I'm sarcastic, cynical and a bit cranky. I own a soap box so big that sometimes I have difficulty stepping down off of it, and I'm about 94% certain I have multiple personalities. I don't sleep enough, and I read more than any person should ever consider normal. I have anger management issues, especially when I'm stuck in traffic and I have an unhealthy obsession with my Kindle. I am a vampire lovin', zombie obsessed, book-in-hand, iPod freak. 1. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I am also afraid of sharks and even after growing up in a beach town across the way from where Jaws was filmed, since watching will no stick my toes in the ocean. I totally sympathize 😀 I enjoyed the excerpt and am looking forward to the read.
