Hola Kindle-ites! Valentines Day is quickly approaching and I wanted to do something fun (and different) for all of you. But I’ll be honest…I was at a total loss UNTIL last week when one of my most awesome followers (Yes, I mean you Farin) shot me an email with THIS attached. I’m sure most of you have seen displays like these right? (*Looks around the room*)
Well, in case you haven’t. Let me explain. For quite some time now libraries and bookstores have offered up and alternative way for patrons to purchase or check out books during the month of love. It’s their way of helping people out with book rut. (You know, that funk you get in when you read the same thing over and over because HEY..that’s what you gravitate towards.) They pick a book for you. Disguise it. Write a little quip about it on the cover and then send it out into the wild. Then it’s up to you. (This is where the blind date part comes in.) YOU read the quip and pick something that strikes your fancy. Once you get home the fun begins. You get to see what you got and even better… YOU GET TO READ IT! Anyways, after reading Farin/Galley Cat’s article I decided to do a little Blind Dating myself. So…I picked out 6 books. I wrote quips for them (Ugh… I just noticed a typo I can’t fix in the books. Please ignore it.) and am now releasing them into the wild. HOWEVER…unlike Galley Cat (who is offering up FREE classic books) I am going to give away Kindle copies of NEW books. All you have to do is tell me which book you wanna take home. (Bow chicka wow wow.) On Thursday night I will pick a winner & TADA! A new book will be sent to you via Amazon. Sound fun? Awesome!
So how about we check out the books?
Find one that interest you? Ok…now fill out the Rafflecopter form and cross your fingers!
Good Luck!
This is an EPIC idea >^.^<
No…I have never done this before. Book #6 has me very interested. 🙂 Thanks for the fun!
I’ve never done this before but it sounds like fun >^.^<
I’ve never done anything like this before, but it is quite an intriguing idea! :]
What a cool idea!
Actually had a hard time picking just one! I have never seen this sort of thing done at the library or the one book store that is in town. I think that is why I found the idea so interesting and sent you that email. Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
My local library does it, but I never thought about an ebook version until you sent me the article. 🙂
FYI – I’ll post the titles and authors for all of the books on Friday.
Maybe this will be the perfect first date, whoops, new read.
Lol 🙂
Too cool! Kind of makes me want to host a book party – bring a favorite from your bookshelf, wrap it up, and trade for someone elses… (temporary trades could work too :))
That’s a great idea!
I have never heard of this before. But I am very excited about it
hmmm number 4 looks interesting 🙂
I’ve never heard of this before but then it’s been years since I’ve been in a library. Sounds like fun.
This is such an awesome idea! I am trying to guess which book is what, but the descriptions are vague enough that I actually have no idea which books they are. I am really curious to find out which books these are.
I have never participated in one, this is great actually. I think I am going to start!
No, I haven’t. It sounds fun.
I love this! I think I want them all 🙂
