SteelHeart by Brandon Sanderson
Publication Date: September 24, 2013
Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.
But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his wills.
Nobody fights the Epics… nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.
And David wants in. He wants Steelheart—the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David’s father. For years, like the Reckoners, David’s been studying, and planning—and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.
He’s seen Steelheart bleed. And he wants revenge.

Oh my MONKEYS!! I don’t even know where to start. Ok…how about the fact that the “evil superheros” are called EPICS! I doesn’t get much more self-prophesying than that does it? *tells self to calm the crap down* That’s not enough of a reason? *Sigh* How about his… band of super-strengthy people are trying to rule the world (instead of hide behind a secret identity) and the lowly weak humans are trying to put them 6ft feet under. This just SCREEEEAMS action packed goodie bag. I predict raging egos. Tons of self actualization and a big heaping helping of snark! (Cause you know damaged men tend to bottle up their emotions and then later spew it around disguised as sarcasm.) Anyways…this is what I am not so patiently waiting for.
What are YOU waiting for?
I’ve never heard of this book, but the cover looks awesome! It sounds kind of cool – and it’s by a male author! That definitely tips me over the edge – I’m trying to read more books by male authors 😀
Great choice!
My WoW Post!
Me too! It seems like 80% of the books I’ve read lately are female authors that write from female POVs. I like internal male dialogue so this should be interesting. 🙂
This is new to me too. But it looks like a great read. Plus, your own blurb made me even more curious.
Nice choice.
