Emily and Charlotte Brontë are about as opposite as two sisters can be. Charlotte is practical and cautious; Emily is headstrong and imaginative. But they do have one thing in common: a love of writing. This shared passion will lead them to be two of the first published female novelists and authors of several enduring works of classic literature. But they’re not there yet. First, they have to figure out if there is a connection between a string of local burglaries, rumors that a neighbor’s death may not have been accidental, and the appearance on the moors of a mysterious and handsome stranger. The girls have a lot of knots to untangle—before someone else gets killed.
It’s no big secret that I love the Bronte sisters. So, the fact that this book is gracing my WoW shouldn’t be that big of a surprise. But let’s sit back and take stalk for a minute. First, Emily and Charlotte are the STARS of the little goth diddy. That’s new, not to mention that the murders in this book are the driving force behind their “publishing powerhouse success.” Throw in a few moors (yeah…that’s totally a Bronte thing) a mysterious stranger, and BAM! It’s like a little box of goodness wrapped up in a classic lit bow. Plus, the book trailer mentioned something about a secret society. A SECRET SOCIETY PEOPLE!!! Need I mention how many times those 3 words wreck total havoc? (Harry Potter, Angels and Demons, The Skulls… I could keep going.) Alas, THIS is what I am waiting for.
What are YOU waiting for?
Huh. I’ve never heard of this one. Interesting how the author takes on the story of the Bronte sisters. I’ll have to check out this book – it seems like a retelling of a sort. Hope you read and love it!
