“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Publication Date: Feb. 10, 2015
A thrilling new fantasy trilogy for fans of DIVERGENT and THE HUNGER GAMES.
The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.
To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.
Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of
those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.
But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?
This book has been featured so many times on so many different websites it’s actually getting hard to keep track of them all. (The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline… etc) Not only has it already been optioned for a movie (BEFORE the book is even released!!) But it is getting FANTASTIC early reviews. (I think the words most used to date are “Mind blown!”) But why am I so desperate for it? (And yes, I do mean desperate…I have sent SEVERAL request for an ARC) Because the synopsis totally reminds me of Pierce Brown’s “Red Rising” which I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!
Classes are separated by color. Warriors with god-like powers? A DANGEROUS GAME?

This book is just screaming with potential. And in a melodramatic turn of events…if I can’t find a way to get my greedy little paws on it soon I might actually die. (How’s that for drama?)
THIS is what I am waiting for.
